Clients had moved in last year to their new home, and the floors were a dull, power floated concrete floor, with an aggregate within the concrete.

The floor had been polished to a finish, but the floor was lacking any lustre or sealant protection.

Firstly, all water sensitive finishes were taped up for protection and areas were zoned off, to prevent contamination.

The floors were stripped of any previous sealers, detergents Etc, using a strong stripping agent. Once hoovered to remove dirty water residue, the floor was deep cleaned, rinsed and hoovered.

A four-stage diamond polish was carried out to tighten up the porosity of the concrete, washed, rinsed and hoovered.

The floor was allowed to dry out thoroughly and once tested, sealing commenced.

Likewise, with all porous substrates, the aim was to seal the concrete and achieve saturation point. Once achieved, the client selected a satin topical sealant.

As its name describes, it’s a sealer that is applied and once dried and cured, the sealer remains on top of the concrete, to add a further layer of protection.

This can at any point, be easily removed, for future preventative maintenance.
