A Family Affair

A trusted, experienced name in natural stone flooring supply, installation and restoration, Paul Coyle can do it all.

Over the course of more than two decades, Paul Coyle has established a reputation as the person to go to for fine flooring projects. With a range of clients the length and breadth of the country, including Newcastle University, Alnwick Castle and a number of professional sportspeople – as well as satisfied members of the general public – there are few challenges Paul hasn’t seen and surmounted.

Paul’s expertise is also being passed on to the next generation. His son Regan joined the business four years ago, learning first-hand from his father while working on the prestigious projects that have built the firm’s reputation by word of mouth. Paul rarely advertises the business and most if not all of their work is either repeat work from existing clients or client referrals.

Every year Paul and Regan have visited Alnwick Castle to restore the floors in the public areas – just as they have done since 2014, when they were called in to remove thick black bitumen which had been used as an adhesive many years before. Now, their work is remedial, deepcleaning the surfaces and sealing them in preparation for the thousands of pairs of shoes which tread on them every year during the Castle’s opening hours.

The quality service that Paul and Regan provide is the reason they continue to maintain Alnwick Castle’s floors, and is shown by the statement on Paul’s letterhead: ‘I like to be remembered for the right reasons, quality materials and craftsmanship.’ Adhering to that motto has ensured continued business for Paul Coyle, maintaining and installing high-quality flooring repeatedly for customers.

The finest stone materials from around the world are sourced for the floors Paul designs and installs, all to his clients’ specifications. As adept with Karndean and Amtico flooring as antique and ancient stone, Paul’s professional service guarantees simply stunning finished floors. The family business doesn’t stand still, with both Paul and Regan regularly attending training courses as far afield as Germany in order to stay at the cutting edge of the business.

Their restoration expertise extends from limestone or travertine floors – a large proportion of the company’s clients – to the repair and polyurethane refurbishment of Karndean and Amtico flooring. This process doesn’t simply lay a dressing over the floor; it adds two layers of polyurethane to the floor which leaves the floor with a stronger coating than when it left the factory.

For older floors made of limestone or travertine, Paul’s team undertake a careful restoration, which can usually take around three days. Once repairs are complete (if any are required), the floors are stripped and deep cleaned – including grout lines. After that, a full diamond polish, several coats of sealer and a final polish ensures the newly-buffed floors gleam.

However, flooring isn’t all Paul and Regan are expert in. They’re able to repair chipped granite worktops, and supply and install complete bathroom and ensuite refurbishments, including everything from porcelain and ceramic tiles to in-bathroom televisions, and every point in between. They also repolish natural stone tables to remove wine stains and grease, bringing them back to a high finish. Their trusted team of experienced, highly-skilled tradesmen can ensure any job goes without a hitch.

Despite his success, Paul maintains that personal touch, meaning that clients are not just getting a highly-experienced and meticulouslytrained technical team installing or repairing their flooring, bathroom or worktops: they’re also guaranteed an outstanding personal service from the team. No wonder Paul is ranked as the finest tile and flooring company in the country (out of nearly 2,500 tilers) on business review website Free Index, with 130 glowing reviews from happy, satisfied customers.
